Welcome to Hope Valley Quaker Meeting
Quakers
believe that everyone may have direct experience of God, and that there is ‘that of God in everyone’.
We emphasise daily life and experience rather than festivals and creeds. Meeting for Worship is
the centre of Quaker life. We gather together, in our simple meeting room, in a silence that grows deeper
as it progresses. Anyone may speak if they feel inspired to do so.
Within Britain there are about 28,000 members
and attenders of The Religious Society of Friends. More information about Quakers in Britain can be obtained
from www.quaker.org.uk.
In Bamford, Meeting for Worship is held every
Sunday at 10.45am
We
are always glad to welcome newcomers and visitors to the Meeting.
We are sorry that we don't currently have a regular children's
group. Please phone 650085 if you would like to bring children with you.
Meeting for Worship and other
activities are held at the Quaker Community, Water Lane, Bamford. There is a car park for the community
and visitors further along the lane, after you pass the gateway to the house.
Other activities: Every Sunday: Do stay after Meeting for Worship for coffee and a
chat.
If
you are new to Quaker Worship, please feel free to ask about it.
Bring and Share lunch after Meeting for Worship on the first Sunday
of every month
We
hold a Gathering once every two months, following Meeting for Worship, to discuss ways in which we may deepen the spiritual
life of the meeting, practical arrangements, and any matters of concern to us as Quakers. All are welcome
to attend.
We
are a small Quaker meeting and we share responsibility for spiritual and pastoral care. Anyone coming to
our meeting fairly often is invited to be part of our oversight circle, a way of linking people to keep in touch with one
another, and to offer support if needed,
