🟢 Coming Soon: The Bamford Centenary Pump Track!
🚴♀️ A new community space for health, fun, and future generations
Located at Bamford with Thornhill Recreation Ground, Hope Valley
🌟 What’s the idea?
A brand-new pump track—a looping cycle track with smooth rollers and banked turns—is being proposed for the recreation ground. It’s a fun, safe, and inclusive facility that brings people of all ages together, promoting health, outdoor activity, and community spirit.
Planned for 100 years after the land was bought by public subscription in 1925, the Centenary Pump Track celebrates a century of shared space and community investment.
✅ Key Benefits to Our Community
🌿 Revitalises Unused Land
Turns a currently overgrown, waterlogged patch into a vibrant, landscaped public space.
🚲 Encourages Healthy Lifestyles
Provides a safe and fun area for cycling—off the roads—helping young people stay active and engaged.
🧒 Accessible for All Ages and Abilities
Tarmac surface makes it usable by bikes, scooters, skateboards, and adaptive mobility devices.
🏡 Strengthens Community Identity
A community-led, volunteer-managed facility that celebrates our shared history and ensures a legacy for the future.
🌱 Environmentally Minded
Local, sustainable materials will be used; natural landscaping to encourage biodiversity; and better site drainage.
👨👩👧👦 Who’s Behind It?
The project is led by the Bamford with Thornhill Recreation Ground CIO (Charity no. 1185738)—100% not-for-profit and driven by local volunteers. No commercial interests. Just passion.

Funds will be collected through the Bamford with Thornhill Recreation Ground CIO (Registered Charity no. 1185738), allowing the benefit of GiftAid and tax relief for corporate donations.
