Friends of Bamford Station

A station user group called Friends of Bamford Station (FoBS) was formed in November 2015 by some Bamford residents. The group’s aims are both to improve the station facilities and enhance the role of the local Hope Valley Line within the Bamford community. Some of the activities being pursued by FoBS are:

    • Community Information boards detailing local attractions and facilities (eg the community owned Anglers Rest pub, café, restaurant and post office)
    • Maps of the area surrounding each station showing local facilities, walking and cycle routes
    • Planters and flower beds

The limits of what can be done at railway stations are determined by the Train Operating Company and Network Rail, but station user groups like FoBS, of which there are many throughout the country, decide collectively, and in conjunction with the local community, the most appropriate developments for the station concerned. Increasing train frequency, line speeds and service quality are essentially beyond the remit of groups like FoBS.

Constitution

Immediately upon its formation, FoBS adopted a formal constitution and can be found here.
