I hope many of you were able to come to the ‘switching on’ event of the lights on Sunday, 30th November and like me marvelled at the wonderful effect that they have made in lighting up the village. I would l like to thank Lady Ruby Sykes for doing the honours for us.

A huge vote of thanks go to John Cotton, Peter Hearnshaw and Gordon Danks who gave up every weekend from the end of September, right up to Sunday, 30th November to ensure we got the lights in place and ready for the ceremony. We wouldn’t have such a marvellous display of lights without their tireless efforts. They were helped by many people throughout the two and a half months. A full list of all the Project Team members can be found by clicking on the link Team Project Members

A big thank you also goes to all the contributors without whom we would not have been able to take the project forward. Total amount paid out so far is in excess of £5,000. Christmas Lights Contributors

I would also like to thank Tom Hodgson who took so many wonderful pictures of the switching on ceremony. Click on the link to see the photos,

If you haven't already been through the village please put it on your list to do before 2015 as they are a wonderful sight.

I hope the lights will give a great deal of pleasure for many years to come, the fund is still open to pay for more lights and for future maintenance. If you would like to contribute, please contact Sue Beckett on email
