Friends of Bamford Play Park & Recreation Ground

Friends of Bamford Play Park and Recreation Ground are a small group of local parents working in collaboration with the Bamford with Thornhill Recreation Ground CIO to raise money to regenerate the play park and recreation ground, starting with replacing the swings. The playground is independently managed by a charity, on behalf of the village and does not receive any public subsidy to manage and maintain the site. Bamford Play Park and Recreation Ground is a popular (and wonderfully sunny spot) enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The equipment has been regularly enjoyed by local families and their friends, visitors to the area and tourists holidaying in the Peak District for many years but, despite continued best efforts to maintain the current site, the equipment is showing its age and in some cases had to be removed due to health and safety concerns.

We are keen to help raise funds, believing that our children and visitors to the area deserve more than the current playground provision. We are looking to the generosity of all to help us fund raise for a new and refurbished playground which will serve both current and future generations of children. We know that outdoor play is critical for our children's mental and emotional health, communication, physical development and social interaction, as well as providing hours of fun and challenge in all weathers.

Our wish list for the playground includes a new roundabout; see-saw; new cradle, flat and inclusive swing sets; a communication board; outdoor musical instruments and a replacement Early Years play system for younger children. We are in consultation with younger local residents to see what they would like on the site, and we expect this wish list to be fine-tuned to reflect the community's priorities.

We are joining together to bring about fresh, safe and exciting space for children to come and explore, adventure and grow - and we need your help. Please visit our JustGiving page to make a donation.
